Mr. Ackerson was a Kentucky Governor’s Scholar. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Louisville, where he was the recipient of the Louis C. Kesselman Award. He received his law degree from the University of Akron College of Law, where he served as the elected class representative to the Student Bar Association and was the regional winner of the American Bar Association’s Negotiations Competition. Mr. Ackerson has clerked for the Summit County, Ohio Court of Common Pleas and tried his first jury trial with the City of Akron Public Defenders Office.  Since then he has tried personal injury cases and other matters before State & Federal juries in Kentucky.  Before joining Bahe Cook Cantley & Jones PLC as a Partner in the firm, he was a Partner in the firm of Ackerson & Ackerson, PSC.

In 2006, Mr. Ackerson, as a practicing attorney, was honored to be endorsed by the Fraternal Order of Police, the United Auto Workers, the Teamsters, the Plumbers-Pipefitters, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the Steelworkers and the Operating Engineers, as a candidate for Judge on the Jefferson District Court.  "I am humbled by the belief of groups such as our police and labor organizations that my legal knowledge and ability was worthy of their support to serve the citizens of Louisville as a judge." -- Brent T. In addition to the practice of law, Mr. Ackerson serves the citizens of Metro Louisville as their elected Metro Councilman for Louisville's 26th Metro Council District, which encompasses the areas of St. Matthews, Hikes Point, Highgate Springs, Bon Air, Wellington, Strathmoor Village, Kingsley, Avondale, Brookhaven & St. Regis Park.  In this capacity Mr. Ackerson focuses on public service and creating laws that impact the lives of the citizens of Metro Louisville.  Mr. Ackerson also serves an appointed Committee Member of the Louisville Bar Association's Kentucky Lawyer Referral Service, which helps people find answers to their legal questions and quality legal representation for their legal needs.

Mr. Ackerson practices in Kentucky District & Circuit Courts (in Jefferson County and other counties throughout the Commonwealth), and in United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky.  He and his wife of 10 years have two young children.  "I believe very strongly in giving back to the community through  public service and representing people under the law." -- Brent T.
