Mr. Downey is a native of Louisville who was raised in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where he attended Bowling Green High School. After high school, Mr. Downey attended the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York, graduating with a double major in Spanish and History. Mr. Downey received his law degree from the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville. Before joining Bahe Cook Cantley & Jones, Mr. Downey was a litigation associate at the Louisville firm of Hargadon Lenihan & Herrington.

Mr. Downey is a member of the Kentucky Justice Association, the Kentucky Bar Association and the American Association for Justice.
