Head-on crashes have the highest fatality and injury rate of any type of injury due to cars traveling opposite directions colliding with their front-ends, often at high-speed.
Rear-end collisions have a much lower fatality rate than head-on collisions, but a still-high injury rate, particularly for the vehicle that is struck from behind. These usually occur when one vehicle slows or stops suddenly, or when the driver behind is not paying attention.
There are two types of side-impact collisions: “t-bone collisions” and “side-swipe collisions.” T-bone collisions involve the front end of one car hitting the side of another, usually resulting in a high risk of injury or fatality due to limited safety features. Side-swipe collisions are usually less dangerous, as they involve the sides of two cars hitting. These usually have lower damage levels, but can cause further danger if one of the two cars loses control while driving.
These occur when a car rolls over onto its side or roof, usually as a result of when a car tries to take a turn while going too fast. They’re rarer than other types of accidents, but can occur more frequently in cars with a higher center of gravity, such as a large truck or an SUV.
These accidents occur when one driver loses control on their own accord and does not collide with another vehicle. These can have varying rates of injury or fatality, and can occur as a result of numerous factors, including bad road conditions, reckless driving, lack of visibility, and more.
